“See that Jamie Keddie. I contributed to his ‘Videotelling’ crowdfunding campaign and since then, I haven’t heard a thing!”

During the months of November and December last year, I ran a crowdfunding campaign to finance my soon-to-be-launched book, ‘Videotelling’. Thanks to 260 excellent people, we were able to raise funding to pay the editors, designer, illustrator, proofreader and consultants needed to bring the project to life.

My initial date for release was Spring 2016. With hindsight this was as bit optimistic. But I am very happy to say that we are getting there. The manuscript is currently with the copy editor. It will then go to the designer and then to the proofreader. It’s going to be an excellent book.

Unfortunately, I have run into a problem: a lot of the people who contributed to my campaign have not been receiving my email updates.

I think that this has to do with the fact that Indiegogo requires people to contribute through PayPal. Since many people do not have PayPal accounts, they enlist the help of friends or family members who do. As a result, I received those people’s emails rather than the emails of the people that actively contributed.
